Striping, and why it happens
A pressure wand cleans in an arc. Overlap it by hand across a 600 square foot driveway and the eye picks up every seam — the 'zebra stripe' look that is the most common complaint about a cheap concrete wash.
A rotary surface cleaner puts two or four jets under a shroud spinning at a fixed height, so the whole path is cleaned at one intensity. Edges and tight spots are cut in by hand afterwards to match.
Stains that are not dirt
- Irrigation rust — the orange fan-shaped staining from well water. Extremely common through St. Johns and Julington Creek. Needs an oxalic or specialised rust treatment; pressure alone will not touch it.
- Oil and transmission fluid — degreased and dwelled before washing. Old, deeply soaked stains lighten rather than vanish, and you should be told that before the job, not after.
- Battery acid and pool chemicals — these etch the concrete. Cleaning removes the residue but the etch is permanent.
- Tyre marks and hot-tyre pickup — usually lifts with degreaser and heat.

Can you get it back to new?
Usually close. Concrete that has never been cleaned comes back dramatically. Concrete with etching, deep oil saturation or a failed prior sealer will improve but not reset — and you should hear that in the quote.
Do you seal concrete afterwards?
Sealing is offered on pavers. Broom-finish concrete driveways are usually better left unsealed in this climate — a sealed slab in full Florida sun can go cloudy or tacky.
